Hello Round Meadow Families!
The summer has flown by and soon school will resume again. We want to personally welcome you to
back to our wonderful community and the 2018-19 school year. As you know, this is a special school
with a top-notch staff, warm and welcoming families and a PFA that is devoted to enriching our kids’ K-
Each week the PFA will send out an e-newsletter featuring upcoming events, forms, shout outs for our
fantastic Round Meadow parent volunteers, lists of student award winners, reminders, etc. It’s a great
resource to help stay current on what’s happening at Round Meadow and find out how we’re doing
with our fundraising efforts.
Over the years, the PFA has played an increasingly vital role at Round Meadow by filling the gap
created by state budget cuts and raising money to support programs that are essential to a wellrounded
education. This year the Round Meadow PFA will fund:
- Our computer/media instructor, providing K-5 students with weekly age-appropriate lessons
- Weekly PE classes led by Coach Ali with a focus on outdoor fun and fitness.
- Weekly Art classes led by Mrs. Wilson who offers the BEST educational art program in the
district, culminating in our Spring Art Fair and all art supplies
- Weekly Music classes for all K-5 students including music subscriptions and license fees
- Reading Specialist that supports both advanced and struggling students
- Classroom and playground aides providing more supervision at recess, lunch, in class, etc.
- Supplies for our science program
- Subscriptions to IXL, Reading Counts, Raz Kids, World Book Online,
- Maintain online websites & school directory (Directory Spot)
- Supplies and books for our school library
- Several minor campus beautification and improvement projects
- Student daily planners, recorders, cursive books and more!
If that sounds like a lot, that’s because it is! Last year we raised over $425K in net income and we put it
to work right away. We are hitting the ground running and starting our fundraising efforts now for the
2018/19 school year. To continue all programs and our current level of school support, we need to
raise at least $425K this school year and we need your help.
Our biggest source of income is our Y.E.S. Fund (Yearly Educational Support) whereby we ask families
for a one-time annual donation of $650 per student. This is the MOST IMPORTANT donation you will
make all year as the Y.E.S. Fund is the most critical source of funding for us.
We hope all our Round Meadow families will consider making the $650 Y.E.S. Fund pledge (per child) in support of our PFA and helps cover our expenses for the entire year! If you’re able to pledge more, that’s terrific! We have amazing pledge incentives at various tiers as you go up that are NEW this year!
September will be “Y.E.S. Month” at Round Meadow. We ask our Round Meadow families to start their pledges between now and September 30th. During that time, the classes will compete for the highest levels of participation within their group. TK/Kinder and 1st grade are all in one group, 2nd and 3rd grade is one group and 4th and 5th grade is one group. The class with the highest participation will have their teacher’s classroom wish up to $1,000 granted by the PFA. Each teacher will send home a letter to express their wish for their class for that year. There is a $250 minimum pledge required for your child to participate in this competition. You can either complete your donation all at once on Pay4schoolstuff.com, cash, check or PayPal/Venmo or you can pay in 10 easy monthly installments via credit card or PayPal. The $250 minimum pledge is just $25 per month, the $650 suggested pledge is just $65 per month, $1150 pledge is $115 per month, $2200 pledge is $220 per month, the $3000 pledge is $300 per month Remember that Round Meadow PFA is a 501c3 so your donation is tax deductible!
Though fundraising is an important function of the PFA, we will be working just as hard organizing fun events that help keep our Round Meadow families connected. We have several New & Free family events this the year (Movie Night, Trunk or Treat and Lunch on the Lawn in the Spring), and 4 nonfundraiser family events (School Dance, Bingo Night, Dodger Night). Details to come! Finally, we cannot do this alone! We welcome you to find where you can use your talents to help the RM community. These PFA meetings are a great place to get involved, express your ideas, meet other parents, and give you a voice at Round Meadow. Our 2018/19 PFA meetings will be held monthly:
- Sept. 11 – 8:30am
- Nov. 13 – 8:30am
- Oct. 9 – 6:00pm Night Meeting
- Dec. 4 – 8:30am
