Spring Semester Grades 2020
After weeks of research and staff collaboration, the Board of Education approved a resolution during the May 12 Board meeting regarding grading during this time of physical school closure. The resolution reflects the importance of continuing teaching and learning, including assessment, and evaluation. Additionally, it reflects our understanding that students and families are experiencing diverse circumstances and challenges in their home learning environments, so adjustments to grading practices are necessary. The resolution states that grading will be handled as follows:
- Elementary (TK-5th grade): At the conclusion of the spring trimester (ending on June 10, 2020), teachers will provide information for students and parents in the comments section of the report card, as well as goals that will help support students in their academic progress. The “1,” “2,” or “3” academic indicators will not be used on the spring 2020 standards-based report card.
I want to give an extra special shoutout to our teacher retirees: Annette Hudgens and Peggy Stevenson! Thank you both for your incredible dedication and love that you’ve tirelessly put in during your time as a Colt – impacting so many of our RME families. We love you!
As mentioned, I will continue to send updates regularly this summer as I have them for the 20-21 school year. Thank you for your patience, diligence and teamwork as we navigate these incredibly difficult times together. Wishing you and your family a restful, safe, healthy summer vacation.
